
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Safety Management is a workforce-driven degree designed with several track options that provide education and training, leading to immediate employment possibilities for students in numerous careers in public safety.
This comprehensive curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, analytical, written and oral communications, as well as research skills designed to prepare today’s learners for entry-level, mid-management, and upper level supervisory positions within Public Safety agencies such as the FBI, DEA, ICE, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Secret Service and others.

The Criminal Justice track offers a blend of core courses and electives, providing broad knowledge in law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Designed for students with an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. in Criminal Justice, the program builds advanced skills across key areas. It includes 60 credits of coursework—five of which are core Criminal Justice courses—and can be completed in about two years with full-time enrollment.

Yes. MDC Online courses and programs are equivalent to Miami Dade College’s face-to-face courses. They meet the same learning outcomes and competencies. Miami Dade College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and online degrees are awarded under the same accreditation.
Yes. MDC Online accepts out-of-state students and provides a special discounted tuition rate for eligible out-of-state residents through the XploreFLed program. Online programs are also available to international students.
MDC Online provides support through the Student Support Center and the Academic and Learning Technologies Helpdesk. These services assist with technical troubleshooting and issues within online courses.
Online classes follow MDC’s academic schedule. Many online bachelor’s degree courses are offered in an accelerated format where students take two courses over eight weeks, which equals four courses in a traditional 16-week term. Start dates depend on the academic calendar and course availability.
Online students have access to academic advising, career services, testing and assessment, disability services, and technical support. MDC Online also offers new student orientation and a variety of digital resources to support online learners.
Some degrees can be completed fully online. The MDC Online FAQ states that the Associate in Arts degree may be completed entirely online, but not all degree pathways are available in a fully online format. Programs that require labs, practicums, or clinical components may include in-person requirements.
Yes. Financial aid is available for eligible MDC Online students. Miami Dade College encourages students to apply for financial aid, including federal aid through the FAFSA.
Yes. MDC accepts transfer credits from eligible institutions when they apply to the student’s program of study. MDC may also award credit for prior learning, including certain online courses reviewed by the American Council on Education, with a maximum of 45 credits accepted in that category.
MDC Online uses Canvas as its learning management system. Canvas provides communication tools, discussion boards, and other features that allow students to interact with instructors and classmates just as they would in a virtual classroom.
Students need a reliable internet connection and a computer or device capable of accessing Canvas and web-based course materials. MDC provides technical assistance to help with system access and online learning tools.
