Students are welcome to the learning resources, labs, and tutoring available across the eight MDC campuses.

Proctored exams are supervised exams taken in a controlled testing environment.
Every MDC Online course has a mandatory proctored midterm and/or final exam.
Students have an assigned exam window to complete the exam.

Students have two ways to complete the exam:

Honorlock– technology supported proctoring (all students; exam fees are $9.45/exam)

Yes – students log attendance through meaningful participation.
Students with extended periods of inactivity are at risk for withdrawal.
Inactivity is defined as 9 – 14 days of no activity.
Attendance is based on course syllabus and MDC Online Attendance Requirements.
No – online classes can be more challenging than on-campus classes, as they require much more self-discipline and dedication.
Absolutely not! The same quality instructors that teach on-campus courses also teach online. Instructors are there to facilitate learning and answer your questions.

This will vary by course, but students should expect to spend between 6 – 8 hours each week for each 3-credit course.
Students are expected to have access to a reliable computer and stable internet connection.
Google Chrome is the recommended browser for Instructure Canvas. See “What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure (Canvas) products” for more information.
MDC Online classes have a distance learning fee of $15 per credit (i.e., $45 for a 3-credit course). To comply with federal requirements, MDC Online uses secure login and password to verify the identity of online students. There are no additional student charges associated with verification of student identification.

Other than that, students pay the same tuition as on-campus students.

Yes — MDC Online works very closely with the ACCESS department to ensure ADA accommodations are met for all students who are entitled to them.
No — the MDC Online follows MDC’s Academic Calendar. This includes registration and 100% refund deadlines.
